The Mechanical Engineer position requires  a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related specialized area or the equivalent work experience.

GDMS has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Tactical Mechanical Hardware team in Scottsdale, AZ. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and development the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. Mechanical Engineers perform design and development in areas such as mechanical, thermal, and heat transfer. Their work assists with GDMS production, transmission and measurement, as well as the use of mechanical and electromechanical systems, instruments, and controls.  The Mechanical Engineer will lead and perform complex mechanical packaging of electronic components for GDMS using Pro-E, Creo and Solidworks modeling.  As well as being responsible for supporting the development of detailed design drawings for GDMS. The Mechanical Engineer will support a team of engineers to perform mechanical, structural and thermal analysis of designs.  In addition, the Mechanical Engineer will:


  • Develop and review engineering requirements and documentation, such as drawings, schematics, material specification or other required data
  • Support the build, test and qualification of components and assemblies
  • Interface with managers. engineering project and team leads, and mechanical engineering team leads and peers
  • Document all design solutions and changes as required per American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Department of Defense standards
  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices



Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of systems engineering and analysis, and the ability to effectively develop and evolve GDMS technology. 

The Mechanical Engineer position requires  a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related specialized area or the equivalent work experience.  

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
