Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a specialized area; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.


Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Information Technology/Systems Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


General Focus:

  • Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs supporting company business processes and operations
  • Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software including Cyber scans and reports
  • Plans, conducts and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems
  • Analyzes, designs, acquires and implements projects for LAN
  • At higher job levels, may contribute to the development, testing, evaluation or design of system or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set
  • Influence/Persuasion:  Provides input that is considered in group decision making
  • Project Execution/Mgmt: Plans sub tasks
  • Transforms basic designs into solutions that present low impact to business operations
  • Coordinates testing between impacted teams within IT
  • Mentorship: Listens to and acts on mentor's advice
  • Business Impact: Awareness of business objectives and role in achieving them
  • Has responsibility to conform to budget allowances
  • Self-Management: Identifies training opportunities for self and others
  • Independently identifies tasks or projects that need to be done and effectively prioritizes time to complete multiple assignments

  • Ownership: Identifies alternatives in the midst of barriers to progress
  • Process Improvement: Promotes process/policy compliance
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives

  • Customer: Works with clients to resolve reported technical issues. Seeks feedback from listeners to insure the message has been accurately conveyed
  • This is the intermediate level in a field of specialization

System Administration Focus:

  • Red Hat LINUX, UNIX, and/or Windows OS command line administration.  Secure Linux is primary domain with windows support
  • Command line troubleshooting of OS and associated hardware/software
  • Installs, moves and or breaks-down systems
  • Performs system builds
  • Maintains the security and stability of cross domain solutions
  • Interacts with customers
  • Creates, modifies, and removes user accounts
  • Performs Linux audit and reporting tasks
  • May perform role of Information Security Systems Officer including
  • Candidate should be on track or completed CISSP
