Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field, or equivalent experience is required.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

 

 

General Dynamics Mission Systems has January and June 2018 openings for Entry-level Hardware Engineers.  These positions provide an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Entry-level Hardware Engineers research, design and develop information processing hardware as well as various electrical components, mechanisms, materials, circuitry, equipment and processes. In addition to defining the requirements necessary for hardware system architecture, these engineers evaluate system performance, implement test plans and handle design documentation. These employees are also responsible for integrating and interconnecting General Dynamics Mission Systems hardware units.

 

Entry-level Hardware Engineers will focus on one of the following areas as they begin their GDMS career:

  • Mechanical engineering for electronics packaging
  • Module design of components
  • FPGA design and programming

 


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

The successful candidate will have one or more of the following:

  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, theories, and processes 
  • Use of electrical engineering CAD tools
  • Digital Logic Design experience
  • Working knowledge in electrical engineering design tools (for example Verilog)
  • Grasps new information quickly
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Creative thinker
  • Ability to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electrical engineering design
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Internship experience with Electronic Packaging, Module Design, or FPGAs


PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
