Basic Qualifications


Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Security, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or a specialized area or field is requireed (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree.


Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of emerging technologies, and the ability to effectively manage and protect information systems in a cost-effect manner.

  • Must have knowledge of or experience working with different types of malware, ports, protocols, TCP vs UDP, OSI fundamentals, and cyber tools.
  • Must have Security+ certification at the time of hire

Desired Qualifications:

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification is highly desired
  • CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Professional) is highly desired.

"This position requires you to work a shift which is either 8 or 10 hours in length depending on if you work a 5 day or 4 day work-week. Initially, you will start out training on day shift. After you complete training, you will either stay on day shift or move to another available shift. The opportunity to rotate shifts occurs every 3 months. Every 3 months you have the option to either stay on your current shift or move to another available shift for the next 3 months."

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for an Information Security Specialist to join our Information Assurance team. The position provides an opportunity to work directly with some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to secure clients information systems and their contents. Key Responsibilities

The Information Security Specialist interacts with GDMS' clients to recommend and provide information assurance solutions including supporting Intrusion Detection System (IDS) signatures and analyzing current exploit/virus trends. Counsel will be based on the employee's understanding of the way various products/tools and detection interrelates.


Team members will also:

  • Develop the verification procedures used in detecting unauthorized and/or adversary network traffic and evaluate the effects of any possible intrusion
  • Develop various security documentations, including security reports and recommended mitigation to include prevention of further and future attacks/unauthorized activity in and on the network
  • Perform functions as required in support of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800-53: “Security and Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations”
  • Monitor sensors, protect Attack, Sensing and Warning (AS&W) support, provide Indications and Warnings (I&W), perform statistical Analysis, and provide Incident Reporting and Analysis and Response

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS' culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS’ services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
