Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electrical and Software Engineering, or a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities for this Position

GDMS has an immediate opening for a Advanced Test Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



-Participates in the planning of technical approaches, resources, schedule, budget and equipment required for testing and evaluating new

 systems, products and special devices
-Executes the test approach and documents system verification throughout the engineering development lifecycle
-Generate system test work products by applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools
-Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new

-Develops and conducts functional, environmental, operational, and/or performance tests on hardware, software, and systems
-Assists with the design, development and implementation of cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting of hardware, software

 and systems for all phases of product development and manufacturing
-Isolates and documents issues and defects
-Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools

 throughout the system development life cycle
-Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or

-May provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
-Has some latitude in technical objectives of assignments, typical works under limited direction
-May lead technical tasks for small teams or projects
-May be exposed to helping engineering support proposals
-Involved and accountable for the successful completion of major programs and projects
-Frequent contact with managers within and outside of Engineering
-Some contact with project teams across the company
-Some contact with external customers and vendors
-Recognized internally and/or externally as a subject matter expert (SME) in a particular technical area
-Travel may be required
-Keeps abreast of technology trends


Specific Duties: 


-Interface with suppliers to support resolution with their hardware

-Directly interface with the customer

-Act as Cost Account Manager for test budgets

-Provide support for proposals

-Responsible for on-time submittal of CDRLs

-Identify and procure of test equipment and test assets

-Interface with Design Team on; hardware, software and mechanical issues

-Perform resource planning/staffing forecasts

-Provide support to the Change Control Board (CCB)

-Create/maintain and act on Test metrics

-Create detailed procedures for technicians

-Create acceptance test reports

-Support acceptance testing with customer

-Plan and facilitate setting up of test areas as needed

-Ensure that the projects schedule is met

-Mentor technicians

-Remote ownership of test processes from other GD facilities


-Proficient use and understanding of test engineering concepts, principles, and theories
-Contributes to the development of new theories and methods
-Proficient written and verbal communications skills
-Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
-Proficient ability to clearly report information relevant to sound test engineering


Preferred qualifications:


-Extensive knowledge of security practices and procedures

-Knowledge of computer networking and Configuration

-Working knowledge of computer drive imaging and system configuration

-Support test technicians with troubleshooting sub-assemblies and modules (Understand how COTS equipment is integrated)

-Have knowledge/experience with personal computer operations as well as various computer applications

-Possess strong interpersonal, communications and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work in a small team environment

-Understand how to manage and use data structures such as databases, spreadsheets, drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions

-Assignments may be self-initiated

-Work on unusually complex problems and provide creative and innovative solutions

-May function in a project leadership role
