Basic Qualifications

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field and preferably one to two years of related experience.


Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.  Non-Cleared candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by the program.  Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Entry-Level DevOps Engineer to join our Submarine Combat System team. The selected candidate will collaborate with the team to provide DevOps support in a continuous integration and deployment environment for a critical submarine combat system. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems software systems and applications. DevOps Engineers work with team members to provide controlled application releases for test and production environments. This includes source code management and build and release management. Responsibilities also include scripting tasks as related to the Configuration Management environment. Candidates should have experience with version control systems and build tools.



Candidates must have experience with Linux scripting and C++ compilers and build systems. Candidates will preferably have proficiency in continuous integration, continuous release, within a Linux environment. Also, preferred experience with the Atlassian suite including JIRA and Bit Bucket.


Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.


This DevOps Engineer position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field and preferably one to two years of related experience.
