Basic Qualifications

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field and preferably one to two years of related experience.

Agile experience preferred.

 

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.  Non-Cleared candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by the program.  Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Entry Level Submarine Combat System Software Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will be performing C++ and JAVA software development in a Linux environment for a critical submarine combat system. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems software systems and applications. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Submarine Combat System Software Engineers conduct or participate in the research, design and development of systems software, software applications and/or tools for new and existing programs and subprograms. Responsibilities also include enhancements, modifications and corrections to existing software. In addition, these employees are responsible for coding, testing, integrating and documenting software solutions. "Tactical Control System" is a US Navy situational awareness computer display used to keep submarines from crashing.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Candidates must have demonstrated proficiency in C++ and JAVA software development within a Linux environment. Candidates are also preferred to have diverse programming skills, including experience in graphical programming. Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.
