Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.


Qualifications (preferred)

Experience in some of the following would be beneficial:

  • Security scanning and patching using DoD recommended tools such as ACAS and Nexus
  • Risk Management Framework controls evaluation
  • Network Operations
  • System engineering process such as requirements generation, use case development, etc.
  • Intrusion detection and incident reporting/handling
  • Contingency Planning
  • Applicants with a CISSP, ISSEP and/or ISSAP are desired

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


The General Dynamics Mission Systems' Security and Cyber Solutions Engineering group seeks professionals to work closely with our customer to specify, implement, integrate and deploy a secure system architecture and security concepts and strategies. The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will perform activities such as:

  • Perform security scanning, patching and analysis for the program
  • Provide security expertise in an IPT environment and support the creation of the RMF packages for the program
  • Interface between the San Jose system team and the Scottsdale cyber team
  • Ensuring that all analysis, designs, system specifications, technical solutions, and technical documentation complies with the contract and supports the security Goals and Objectives and the security requirements
