Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Quality Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



The Advanced Quality Engineer will be responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of the organization. This individual will also be responsible for interfacing with customer source inspectors. The source inspection activities will involve reviewing material and process paperwork to ensure compliance with customer requirements.



  • Perform audits, assigns corrective action(s) and verifies implementation
  • Compare defects against standards and recommends dispositions, verifies implementation of rework
  • Previous experience in a quality supervising capacity preferred. Prepare ca/rejection documentation as required
  • Participate in material review boards, change control boards, failure review boards
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem solving activities
  • Review documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements and compliance to customer requirements.
  • Be familiar with ISO standards, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements and interface with Defense Contract Management Agencies (DCMA)
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Contact with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering and Operations departments, and with project teams across the company
  • Frequent contact with external customers and suppliers
  • Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems


  • Highly proficient knowledge of domain (hardware, software, systems, logistics, manufacturing) methodologies, tools, and standards
  • Highly proficient knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, AS9100C,D CMMI, ANSI, EIA, etc
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly proficient written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
  • Highly proficient skill in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Highly proficient ability to clearly report relevant to sound quality engineering processes
  • Ability to sell concepts and ideas
  • Highly proficient knowledge of interpretation of drawings
  • Highly proficient skill in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques
  • Highly proficient skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally highly proficient interpersonal skills highly proficient knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
