Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Deputy Project Manager to join our team in support of our Space Control projects. The position provides an opportunity to lead teams supporting the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative project teams GDMS systems and client technologies. In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the PM in the daily execution of the Program as well as long range planning. 
  • Establish solid customer relationships that lead to repeat business
  • Define, organize and manage the execution of project tasks using an established internal protocol
  • Meet the project schedules and achieve project margins while maintaining compliance with technical requirements
  • Maintain schedule and cost metrics

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customer's changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices


Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership behaviors, effective communications skills, a sophisticated understanding of budget management and the ability to successfully manage, grow and evolve GDMS programs.

The Program Manager position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or equivalent field. In addition, a minimum of 5 years of experience, and demonstrated results, in leading development or production efforts is required. A minimum of 12 years of directly related experience is preferred. Any combination of education and experience can be considered commensurate. Formal project management training required and a PMI certification is preferred.


  • Project leadership experience in a matrix organization is required
  • A high level of knowledge and an understanding of Geolocation and Interference detection systems
  • Experience with large earth station antenna or satellite communications would be helpful

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is require at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
