Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related specialized area or field or equivalent experience is required.

 

Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

 

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Entry-level Mechanical Engineers-Electronic Packaging. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Perform mechanical design and development associated with packaging electronic assemblies into a military environment
  • Packaging electronic circuit board assemblies into an enclosure to meet mechanical, thermal, shock, vibration, size, weight and power requirements
  • Static mechanical engineering analysis associated with the design and manufacturing of ruggedized enclosures


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Broad mechanical knowledge in such areas as requirements definition, production support and environmental testing support
  • Self-starter, able to translate customer requirements into a cost-effective design that is optimized for manufacturing and periodic operational maintenance
  • Proficiency with Pro/E Creo or similar
  • Familiarity with a PDMlink operational environment
  • Willingness to learn thermal/structural analysis packages such as ANSYS-Icepak or Pro Mechanica


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of ANSYS-Icepak or Pro Mechanica


PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES:

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
