Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

 

Must have basic computer skills in word and excel and be available for emergency after hours work.

 

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Facilities Support Associate.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility
Supports maintenance mechanics and facilities staff by performing "handyman" maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup
Works with outside contractors on building and equipment repairs
Operates site equipment such as forklift operations as needed, using hand and power tools as necessary
May perform other activities such as audio-visual (AV) set up for meetings or conferences, inter-office mail deliveries, waste paper recycling, and stocking of employee break areas
May maintain documentation such as power diagrams, network diagram, space usage, etc.
May provide support to vendors/contractors such as security force, cafeteria, media relations
Gives occasional technical direction to others on specific building systems and equipment
Consistently demonstrates safe working habits and can direct others to act safely
Regularly inputs data into CMMS
Participates on site coverage team

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Has a solid understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks
Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
May require decision-making but with limited financial implications to the company
Focus is on completing tasks or activities supporting implementation of procedures
Solid ability to perform at a moderate to skilled craftsman level in at least one trades area
Demonstrates some competency of specific building systems knowledge
Solid knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Solid knowledge and sound understanding and interpretation of schematics and drawings
Solid knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures
Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
Never a manager, but may provide direction to other employees with similar duties
