Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Spiral Development Lead for C2BMC software development. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Candidate will serve as the Development Spiral Lead for S8.2-5 Development. Candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading the efforts of a multi-faceted SW development team developing a complex missile defense command and control system.

 

The candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Monitor and coordinate all DEV activities for the Task Order
  • Develop and execute schedules
  • Assess progress and report status to DEV and TO Leadership
  • Act as the technical interface with the Government
  • Work issues that arise within the TO1 Development organization
  • Work with other Functional Areas to coordinate S8.2-1 releases
  • Interface with the SW Architects, Domain Engineers, and communicate DEV priorities to the Application Development Leads
  • Work with the Application Development Leads to resolve resource and/or schedule conflicts between the spirals
  • Support preparation and presentation of briefings and demonstrations to customer.
  • The candidate is required to perform earned value assessments on technical work, input and maintain current progress in the program EV tool, and prepare any variance reports required.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proven leadership experience with full life cycle software development on large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements development and interpretation, software design, implementation and test, fielding and maintenance. Candidate is required to have extensive software development experience. Preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading a large (50 person) software organization. Preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience using software metrics to manage a large software organization.

 

Experience leading and managing cross functional teams in the development and integration of distributed, real-time software systems. Demonstrated experience in performing development management in a large, complex Development program. Good working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the BMDS is highly desired

 

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to work independently and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment. Applicant should have an excellent working knowledge of standard MS Office products. Prior experience leading a large development organization is required. Occasional travel will be required for this position

 

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field from an accredited college, with 14 years of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
