Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.


Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is  REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a X-LAB Project Manager for Missile Defense.The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


The X-Lab has an immediate need for a Project Manager to assist with business analysis, proposal and project management activities. X-Lab is looking to augment its staff with a highly motivated and skilled individual. The successful candidate will have experience with the operation of a 30+ member organization and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.


  • Business Acumen: Understanding and use of Microsoft Office toolset, especially MS Excel.
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) including cost reporting, budget analysis, earned value management and contract management. Experience performing monthly finance activities including estimated vs actual evaluation, forecasts and variance reporting. Project Management:
  • Experience with project planning, cost estimation and proposal development.
  • Experience creating integrated schedules and risk management, requirements and design management, procurement management, project execution, issue resolution. And project closeout.
  • Ability to work with multiple customers and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing process improvements, training and procedures.
  • Development of Best Practices and Process Improvement metrics and Action Plans.
  • Experience with MDIOC BMDSS and BNOSC a plus.
  • Ability to manage project scope, goals, milestones and deliverables to support project goals in collaboration with X-Lab Leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Interface with the government customer on a regular basis including status and planning presentations.


Proposal Management:  Experience supporting proposal development including writing BOEs, pricing, schedule development, Bill of Materials List and technical writing review. Experience with procurement activities including facility buildout and hardware vendor interaction, ordering and delivery receipt.

Candidate must be able to operate in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment. Candidate must be organized, detail oriented, and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


  • Serve as X-Lead and principal interface for BMDSS support activities including Request for Service (RFS) tracking, project planning, scheduling and issue resolution. Support X-Lab Infrastructure planning and engineering activities.
  • Serve as business analyst for Control Account Management activities for X-Lab Task Orders.
  • Support proposal development activities including review of evaluation criteria and proposal preparation instructions, development of proposal guides and structure outline and proposal content reviews.
  • Provide support as tech writer editor, document coordination and delivery to customer.
  • Support X-Lab project scheduling activities including test event coordination.
  • Support as one of mod Security Managers, assist with Security procedures including maintenance of personnel contact information; managing the paperwork associated with the contents of the classified safe(s); coordination with Government personnel; coordination of MDIOC audits; acting as the emergency point of contact (list of CPR certified personnel, knowledge of emergency drills, supporting Block Captain duties); backup manager for the Remote Access Panel (RAP) user access list; and other duties as assigned
  • Excellent communications skills desired.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Ability to write and implement engineering plans within a project.

A small amount of travel may be required.


A Secret clearance is required. Primary work location is at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) at Schriever AFB with secondary location at Federal Drive in Colorado Springs, CO.
