Basic Qualifications

The Entry Level Software Engineer position requires a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering or a related technical field, or the equivalent experience.


A U.S. Government Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. 

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an opening for an Entry Level Software Engineer in our Taunton, MA location. 


The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services.  GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design and manufacturing of advanced electronic systems. In addition, the Entry Level Software Engineer will enhance their skill-set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues.


In this role, you will be responsible for the development of software and systems products in a Linux and/or Windows-based workstation environment. This role will offer you the opportunity to:

  • Integrate as a member of a software development team and complete assigned tasks, that will nurture and expand your technical skills
  • Learn systems in order to update information
  • Enter data into various systems
  • Research and document various data processes
  • Abide by all safety procedures outlined by the company




  • Java/J2EE, C++, JavaScript, C#, HTML, CSS, and XAML
  • Comfortable working with Visual Studios and Eclipse IDEs
  • Experienced with various Server Frameworks, DOM, and Java Web App Platform (Tomcat)
  • Adept with Microsoft Office - especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Comfortable working with operating systems, such as Windows 7 and 10, Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Mac OSX Mavericks (10.6+), and Linux (RedHat 5 and 7)
