Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, and/or related field or equivalent experience, plus 2 years of related experience or Master's degree.

 

Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

The GDMS Information Technology (IT) organization has an immediate opening for a PBX and Telecommunications Specialist to join our team. He/she will ensure normal business operations by monitoring the health of an Avaya PBX services, responding to incidents, attending to service requests and managing releases, migrations, asset optimization and configuration management.  The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. The ideal candidate for this role will have a comprehensive understanding of Avaya PBX and other telecommunications solutions along with unified messaging. This individual will participate in providing full system lifecycle planning, development, support and maintenance of Avaya PBX, telecommunication and Unified Messaging systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, application configuration and performance tuning, account management, software upgrades, and monitoring
  • Assess and maintain SLA, System Availability, Capacity Management, and Performance KPIs.
  • Improve Service Performance, Capabilities, Interoperability, and Services 
  • Perform application / service health checks
  • Analyze and triage defects/issues
  • Plan and manage releases and migrations in different environments
  • Monitor system alerts, system utilization thresholds, and capacity utilization on servers, etc.
  • Support an Avaya PBX and other telecommunications solutions
  • Providing advice, support, training, and assistance in the proper, efficient and effective use of the application
  • Understand a broad range of customer’s requirements, expectations, and operational imperatives for their mission success, as well as translate those business drivers and needs into requirements and actions for continuous enrichment of the user’s experience. Ensure Compliance, Manage Risk, and Support Audits
  • Monitor and enforce compliance of application configuration and operational practices to both regulatory requirements like Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and corporate policies like GDMS Information Security Policies. Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of technological systems and solutions, and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
  • Solid presentation, oral/written communication, and inter-personal skills including the ability to: anticipate, influence & adapt to a wide range of audiences; cultivate relationships and leverage organizational understanding to facilitate decision making and buy-in
  • Proven track record of being capable of working with significant uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues, and challenges; converting uncertainty into quantifiable impact, risk, and mitigating actions
  • Modest Business Travel May Be Required

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Expertise with Avaya PBX infrastructure in a corporate environment. Including maintaining and setting voice configurations, policies, and routing over a complex WAN infrastructure (SIP, Media Gateways, H.323, PBX, QoS)
  • Experience with Sonus SBC / SBA configuration, management and maintenance
  • Experience using monitoring and reporting tools to optimize and troubleshoot real-time VOIP systems
  • Strong understanding of network concepts including TCP/IP subnetting, Trunking, routing, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, load balancers, etc.
  • Experience integrating different telecommunication systems with Cisco VOIP including Skype for Business and various PBX solutions
  • Knowledge of operating enterprise systems within virtual environments (VMWare and or Hyper-V) is a plus
  • Experience in design and administration of Microsoft Windows Server environment, including but not limited to; Activity Directory Domains, Group Policy Objects, Web Services, DFS shares, Operating Systems, patches and hotfixes
  • Experience working with Unified Messaging
  • Familiar with configuring and troubleshooting E911 in accordance with US state laws
  • Experience writing and using PowerShell scripts
