Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management or Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.


Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is obtainable at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior ILS Specialist.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


Assists in project/program tasks related to specific ILS elements
Provides ILS input to project/program plans and deliverables
Defines, reviews and analyzes system requirements for enhancements/modifications for supportability
Supports internal audits and/reviews for corrective action plans
Supports other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements
Assists in the development of project/program plans and deliverables
Performs duties and responsibilities as member or functional expert on process improvement teams and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
Assists in the development of supplier requirements and Statements of Work
Independently create major sections of ILS deliverables
Internal and External customer/government
Upper management levels
Contract Management
Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and functional areas
Accomplish Defense Acquisition University (DAU) courses and select GD internal engineering course
Apply for International Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE) credentials: SOLE Demonstrated Logistician (DL)
Reports to an ILS Manager
Individual contributor
ILS Generalist - intermediate level professional
Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life
May be required to travel


Solid experience in technical writing
Solid knowledge of military/commercial requirements/ specifications
Conflict management skills
Ability to coordinate with other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements
Solid knowledge of Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Framemaker

Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
Familiarity with a peer review process
Coordinating and leading multi-discipline team meetings



Extensive technical writing experience

Experience with graphics development

Experience in document design and layout
