Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science degree or Technology degree, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is requiredat time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Engineering Lab Support Specialist.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

 

General Dynamics Mission Systems is currently seeking a engineer to perform lab support duties and site installations. This person will maintain the health of equipment in our lab, perform troubleshooting on-site and off-site, load cryto keys, perform inventory of equipment, research and recommend replacement parts, generate drawing updates, install mod kits, which includes wire wrapping and card swaps, and installation of drawer level equipment off-site.  Persons applying must be able be able to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment. This position will require a candidate who can work on multiple on-going programs.

 

The job will require extensive travel to customer sites for first two years, estimated at 2-3 weeks per month.  Travel is expected to be OCONUS

 

The preferred candidate must have a Top Secret clearance, 3-5 years of experience in maintaining a lab, troubleshooting equipment issues, capable of reading HW drawings and making changes, has experiences with using protocol analyzers. Previous site installation experiences are a plus.


 

Additional Job Duties:

  • Perform wire-wrapping
  • Fixing cables
  • Pack equipment per Special Packaging Instructions and work closely with shipping
  • Work with GD buyer to purchase parts
  • Program and erase PROMs
  • Support Operations on inventory of certain parts and creation of appropriate shop orders for tasks
  • Support obtaining quotes for proposals
  • Support data monitoring and backup of data
  • Support running Acceptance Test/HW systems test



PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: IT, Computer Engineering, EET, MET or equilivant plus at least two years experieince.
