  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.


    Department of Defense Secret clearance obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Lead Quality Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Leadership of GDMS QA Personnel, Provide Daily Task/Work Direction supporting the Quality Assurance Integrated Production Team Lead (QA IPTL) and the Quality Manager 
    • Designs, implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
    • Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
    • Provides technical review of documents, drawings, assembly instructions, and project plans
    • Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
    • Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews, material review boards, change control boards, failure review boards
    • Participates in continuous improvement and problem solving activities within the project
    • Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects
    • Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
    • Works under limited direction 
    • Contact with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering and Operations departments, and with project teams across the company
    • Frequent contact with external customers
    • Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
    • Works as an individual technical contributor on one or more projects
    • Recognized as an authority in a specific domain of expertise (e.g. hardware or software engineering)
    • Participates as an active member of the project team
    • Independently determines approach to solutions
    • Failure to accomplish results or errors may cause significant delays or require the substantial expenditure of resources
    • Travel may be required
    • Security clearance may be required 


    • Fully proficient knowledge of domain (hardware, software, systems, logistics, manufacturing) methodologies, tools, and standards
    • Fully proficient knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, T9001B, CMMI, ISO 14001ASME, ANSI, EIA, etc. 
    • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Fully proficient written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to think creatively
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
    • Fully proficient skill in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Fully proficient ability to clearly report relevant to sound quality engineering processes
    • Ability to sell concepts and ideas
    • Fully proficient knowledge of interpretation of drawings
    • Fully proficient skill in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements techniques 
    • Fully proficient skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
    • Fully proficient interpersonal skills
    • Fully proficient knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques
