Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Customer Relationship Manager to join the Facilities and Real Estate team.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


Facilities & Real Estate (FRE) function manages and optimizes a diverse portfolio of nationwide facilities to meet GDMS’ evolving needs. We have a dynamic opportunity for an experienced leader to act as a CRM focal point to drive greater intimacy, understanding, and awareness between FRE and our internal business peers & partners. The Customer Relationship Manager will develop and execute the Customer Relationship Model for the Facilities and Real Estate (FRE) team, with the objective of partnering to enable effective business planning, both tactical and long term and strengthen customer satisfaction.



  • Formalize the FRE Customer Relationship Model to gain a better understanding of Mission/Strategy in support of high level multi-year road map development
  • Builds and preserves trusting relationships with our customers by developing a complete understanding of business unit’s strategic direction.
  • Provides proactive customer management to determine business needs and influence stakeholders to co-create strategic plans.
  • Engage with Enterprise Engineering and Manufacturing leadership in support of near term needs and long term portfolio planning.
  • Ensures appropriate dissemination and alignment of identified business priorities and directions across the FRE organization.
  • Support the development of real estate plans and the management of space and capacity planning.
  • Teams up with the Projects and Operations team to develop business justification and secure appropriate funding for business priorities. 
  • Leads the creation of a repeatable process, tools and templates for CRM engagement.
  • As part of the FRE leadership team, plays a key role in the establishment and development of FRE objectives and long-range strategic plans.
  • Ensures that FRE solutions developed support business units’ forecasts, strategic business plans, goals and initiatives while also demonstrating sound investment principles.
  • Manages an overall communications program between FRE and the business units, including the development of customer feedback on the effectiveness of FRE services.
  • Adheres to Enterprise governance controls and financial responsibility for project initiatives.

  • Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) practices
  • Proven knowledge of financial and FRE principles and analysis
  • Knowledge of techniques necessary for in-depth strategic planning and CRM
  • Basic knowledge of principles of facility planning, programming, and project management
  • Experience in planning, structuring and reviewing FRE plans to meet business unit needs


This position can be performed at any of our major GDMS locations (Fairfax, VA, Scottsdale, AZ, Taunton, MA, Dedham, MA, etc.)
