Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
LCS Hull Lead Engineer provides direct oversight of all PMS 501, PMS 505, SWRMC, and alteration installation team (AIT) work executed in LCS availabilities. The candidate coordinates and supervises all GDMS work on the ship and works with Navy and Prime Contractor representatives to ensure swift, proper, and efficient execution of all tasks. The candidate coordinates with GDMS design engineering team in development of specifications for all Preventative Maintenance Availability’s (PMAV), Corrective Maintenance Availability’s (CMAV), Window of Opportunities (WOO) Post Shakedown Availability’s (PSA), Selected Restricted Availability’s (SRA), and Dry-docking Selected Restricted Availability’s (DSRA). The candidate writes job/ship status reports, technical feedback reports, manning/staffing plans, Statements of Work for subcontractors, and coordinates all funding/logistics needs with GDMS support teams. The candidate coordinates development of and provides status inputs to GDMS Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for all LCS availabilities.
The LCS Hull Lead will be based in San Diego, CA, and will support their assigned ship, including travel to other INCONUS and OCONUS ports as required. The selected candidate will be expected to travel 30% of the time aboard commercial aircraft, participate in generating travel expense reports, and maintain a US Passport. The candidate will work within the parameters and rules common to U.S. Naval vessels.
