Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA std's certification may be required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Program Quality Lead to join an integrated product team of professionals that build a range of high-assurance, ruggedized & special-purpose circuit card assemblies for critical strategic programs.

The selected candidate will be the primary quality assurance representative for a major strategic guidance program. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of program quality assurance while working with an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to collaborate and manage the ongoing production build and test activities for a diverse range of complex circuit card assemblies. The Program Quality Lead will be a hands-on, working leader overseeing a QA team that maintains all aspects of QA for this critical program, including: ongoing flow down, interpretation, and enforcement of customer contractual requirements; Materials Review Board (MRB); Test Review Board (TRB); and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Preventive Action Corrective Action (PACA) activities and documentation; internal quality auditing of the program; continuous improvement initiatives; Cost Account Manager (CAM) in an Earned Value Management (EVM) environment for all QA staff working on the program; generate the QA aspects of program contract proposals; interfacing with on-site co-located customer QA representatives and hosting visits by customer-QA auditors as they perform external audits of GDMS operations and processes.

The QA Lead will regularly and constructively interface with internal and external customer representatives and team members from Program Management, Process and Manufacturing Engineering, Scheduling, Materials & Supply Chain, and other disciplines, and will be comfortable functioning in a matrix organization with programmatic and departmental/functional lines of reporting and responsibility. The position may conduct training on quality assurance concepts, tools, and techniques, and will involve generating and presenting quality assurance information while speaking as the program quality representative in various formal presentation venues to internal and external customers.

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of General Dynamics Mission Systems quality assurance practices and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology. Other relevant knowledge, skills and experience include quality auditing inside GDMS’ operations and other highly regulated environments, and familiarity/experience with the United States Navy nuclear submarine operations, programs, and documentation.

Candidate must be available for travel, currently estimated at 10%

Fully proficient knowledge of basic electrical or mechanical technology
Fully proficient knowledge of ESD control
Fully proficient knowledge of Workmanship standards
Fully proficient knowledge of drawing interpretation
Skill in using PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel)
Skill in using basic inspection/measurement tools
Fully proficient knowledge and understanding of documentation, processing and production paperwork
Skill in using specific computer production tools

  • Extensive experience in Hardware Quality (mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies) in an AS 9100 / ISO 9001 Manufacturing environment
  • Configuration management industry standards and effective implementation of as-built records, Acceptance Data Packages and Change Control Board (CCB)
  • Documentation practice
  • Supplier Quality
  • Successfully represent company during external customer audits for conformance to quality management standards and program-specific requirements
  • Very high proficiency required in MS-Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

MS-Access along with requirements management applications such as IBM DOORS and user experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
