  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.

     


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is transferable at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Test Engineer to support guidance test operation at the Integrated Test Facility (ISF) in Pittsfield, MA.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Electronic Assembly (EA) testing

    Guidance System failure confirmation analysis and fault isolation

    Functional, Accuracy, and Environmental testing of guidance system assets

    Validation of guidance system corrective action and post-test analysis

    Guidance test equipment maintenance and calibration

    Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
    Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
    Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
    Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
    Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
    Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
    Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering and other professionals within the Engineering department
    May have some contact outside Engineering or with external customers, and subcontractors
    Travel may be required
    Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope
    Keeps abreast of technology trend

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Navy Experience
    Familiarity with technical standards

    Very solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts and modeling tools, principles, and theories
    Very solid awareness of business objective and Engineering role
    Very solid knowledge of requirements management

    Weapon and Guidance Systems knowledge
    Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments
    Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with minimal direction
    Very solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    Creative thinker
    Ability to multi-task
    Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
    Very solid skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    Ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design
