Training, Curricula, and Instructional Design Specialist

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management or Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TOP SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Training, Curricula, and Instructional Specialist.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Functions as a subject matter expert in SSBN/SSGN Fire Control System (FCS) for the training team

Assists in SSBN/SSGN FCS curriculum development

Provides input to curriculum and training plans and deliverables Defines, reviews and analyzes system requirements for impacts to curriculum and develops upgrade/familiarization training Supports internal audits and/reviews for corrective action plans Supports other engineering groups with new hire FCS familiarization, participates in tactical design reviews, and supports development of internal hands-on training

Assists in the development and execution of project schedules

Independently create technically accurate and instructionally sound curriculum with little supervision

Participates and presents to customer and upper management about training requirements and the effects of an engineering design on current curriculum

Performs other duties and responsibilities as a member of the fleet training team as assigned

Reports to the Fleet Training and Documentation Support Manager

May be required to travel

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have at least 6 years of experience as a Navy Missile Technician (MT)

Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) or equivalent

Very solid knowledge of Navy curriculum development processes, instructional theories and methodology, and Navy schoolhouse operation/procedures

Very high level of knowledge of and ability to navigate of FCS Technical Information Databases (TIDBs) System expert level of knowledge of SSBN and/or SSGN FCS operation, maintenance, and documentation

Very strong ability to take complex system information and create instructional content for apprentice-level learners

Excellent time management skills

Strong aptitude to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

Strong ability to work as an individual or collaboratively to develop deliverables and meet customer deadlines

Solid conflict management skills

Very strong ability to work with multiple stakeholders with unique perspectives to develop a viable curriculum artifact

Preferred Education/Experience:

BS in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or equivalent experience
