  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

     

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 1 year of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advance Power system/Analog Engineer. The Power Systems/Analog Engineer will support the design, development and test of power and analog component designs as well as subsystems-level designs that are required to support our various customer's missions.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
    Substantial contribution to electrical requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis (e.g. timing, power, etc.), design, integration and verification of electrical components, equipment and systems
    Plans and leads electrical engineering root cause analysis for electrical issues, conducts experimental tests, evaluates results to formulate and implement solutions to issues
    Contributes to the generation and maintenance of electrical work products (i.e. plans, specifications, design documentation, etc.) used for internal consumption and/or deliverable to external customers
    Develops and presents electrical requirements, concepts, designs, decisions and results to internal management and external customers
    May contribute to technical subcontract management that may include technical oversight and subcontractor work product evaluation
    Substantial contribution to electrical reviews of electrical components, equipment and systems
    Evaluates vendor capability to support product development
    Participation in the improvement of the electrical organizational processes
    Supports the generation of engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the electrical development life cycle
    Contributes to the research and analysis of data, such as customer design proposal specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    Selects components and equipment based on analysis of requirements
    May provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
    Independently determines approach to solutions
    Plans and executes project tasks for activities described above
    Generally works with multiple work groups, including with senior levels of l work groups
    Generally works on diverse range of complex problems under limited direction
    Generally has regular Contact with project leaders and Program Managers. Generally has Some contact with external customers

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Be an individual contributor within the electrical engineering design team that develops Hardware Configuration Items and Subsystem Level electrical design
    • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing business needs
    • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS’s services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
    • Interface with vendors for product development
    • Interface with other GDMS engineering disciplines
    • Provide direction/support to Manufacturing as required
    • Attend formal design reviews as both a Presenter and Reviewer
    • Interface with the local Navy office
    • Apply GDMS Common Process, SSP ODs
    • Occasional required travel to Field Sites, Installation Sites, and Vendors
    • Provide occasional field Installation direction/support to sub-contractors
    • Willing to occasionally work in various indoor/outdoor environments during installations, possibly during off-shifts


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    Qualifications (Preferred)

    Candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:

    • Ability to simulate designs using System Vision or Paladin (preferred)
    • Able to work in teams
    • Able to work multiple programs concurrently (multi-tasking)
    • Strong Communications Skills
