General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Advanced System Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
As an Information Systems Engineer this candidate will be responsible for the installation and configuration of Computer Information Systems to prepare for demonstrating system operation aboard large ships. The candidate will work with Advanced Engineers to accomplish assigned tasking and or troubleshooting efforts to support system activation. The Information System Engineer will be responsible for testing hardware and software components to verify Total Ship Computing Environment is available for integrated testing throughout various systems across the platform. The chosen candidate will document Engineering concerns for anomalies that cannot be immediately resolved. The candidate will also support software regression testing involving system upgrades or modifications. The Information System Engineer will support the implementation of information assurance policies and processes on the ship’s computer network.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
The Information System Engineer will be expected to become totally familiar with integrated computer systems with a goal of becoming the SME (subject matter expert) in all aspects of services required to support Total Ship Activation. The system may include but not be limited to Routers, Switches, Windows Servers, Virtual Machine Environment, Computing Environment, Fiber Optics, Network Connections, TCP/IP, DNS and System Backup. This position may require extended time aboard large ships to support at sea testing.
This individual should hold bachelors degree in engineering or have a minimum of 8 years combined experience in US Navy new construction shipbuilding and testing. They must possess and demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of integration, installation, operations, maintenance and testing of networks, Combat and Communication systems used in US Naval programs. This individual must have strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient with typical PC applications to include Word, Project, Excel and Access.
