  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

     

     

    Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, US citizenship is required.

     

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Facilities Project Manager to join our team.  The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

    The selected individual will be expected to:

    • Develop, plan and check semi-complex to complex AutoCAD design drawings, equipment specifications and equipment layouts
    • Participate in conceptualization and programming of complex designs & design modifications
    • Assist with development of process improvement initiatives
    • Frequently initiate studies for management review
    • Perform a semi-broad spectrum of engineering & design projects involving varied business groups
    • Verify estimates
    • Develop and perform semi-complex to complex design & design analysis including new construction
    • Ability of consistently and successfully completing engineering and designs for projects between $500,000 and $3,000,000 and/or multiple projects simultaneously which are similar in complexity to this range
    • Maintain the ability to understand the Facilities Operations processes
    • Possess project management skills
    • Possess knowledge of engineering principles with emphasis on application to building expansions, building system renovations, upgrades, operations and maintenance
    • Ability to consistently apply sound engineering principles
    • Extensive knowledge of life safety, building codes, corporate environmental, safety, health policies & procedures and security
    • Create schedules, budgets and manage all construction and renovation projects for new or existing sites
    • Coordinate both internal departments as well as general and subcontractors to complete all projects in a timely fashion
    • Lead efforts in design and construction from small modifications to complete design and contraction of new sites
    • Supervise and manage projects that range from rough construction to finish work including electrical, mechanical, low voltage cables, Audio/Visual systems & equipment, security systems and coordination of phone and network systems, systems furniture and freestanding furniture as well as moves (both within a specific site and site to site)
    • Prepare specifications, lead bidding and ensure compliance with procurement regulations for all aspects of each build
    • Establish close working relationships with contractors, vendors, city planners and inspectors to ensure compliance of all resources to accomplish General Dynamics goals
    • Design a highly efficient space/work environment that ensures a quality work place while adhering to company standards and meeting all fire, safety and building codes
    • Develop, plan and check complex spaces
    • Plan and design CAD drawings, equipment specifications and layouts including verification of estimates
    • Review architectural and engineering drawings to ensure all requirements are met
    • Provide cost analysis of property startup/leasing/rudimentary design for proposals
    • Complete engineering & design for projects up to $3,000,000 and/or multiple projects simultaneously which are similar in complexity to this range

     Projects are worked across the continental US, so the ability to travel is required.
