    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS has an immediate opening for a Senior Information Systems Specialist at our Colorado Springs location.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Supports the development of program required security documentation, including items such as security plans, contingency plans, and security tests plans and procedures in compliance with the Information Assurance policy
    • Supports the generation of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) (or Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation for the program
    • Executes or supports execution of A&A (or C&A) activities
    • Executes or supports execution of security testing and evaluation to ensure the correct implementation of security requirements
    • Executes security scanning and the analysis of the scan results
    • Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software
    • Red Hat LINUX, UNIX, or Windows OS command line administration
    • Trusted Network Environment (TNE) Pitbull command level administration
    • Commands line troubleshooting of OS and associated hardware/software
    • Provides on-site technical solutions
    • Installs, moves and or breaks-down systems
    • Performs Linux audit and reporting tasks
    • Command level Database troubleshooting, including SQL, skills highly desirable
    • Must be able to perform scheduled and unscheduled fly away support
    • Provides day-to-day communication/network security operation and maintenance of multiple secure network infrastructures
    • Troubleshoots, develops and designs network architectures consisting of multilevel access and multilevel security platforms
    • Analyzes and determines corrective action for secure data communications networks
    • Implements US government COMSEC standards and practices
    • Evaluates and reports on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance and reliability of the network
    • Assists with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all communications security configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation
    • Monitors key system metrics to identify trends and analysis
    • Designs, develops, builds, and tests network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established project management processes
    • Ensures that the solutions are fully documented and in compliance with applicable security requirements for the classification level of the system
    • Analyzes, interprets and refines requirements to assure understanding of assignment
    • Travel is required; 5% - 10%



    • Very solid application of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Very solid understanding of verification and validation process
    • Familiar with cyber security specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other government security specifications and guidelines
    • Very solid ability to clearly recognize and report relevant system security concerns and issues
    • Ability to participate in and contribute to multiple work groups
    • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
    • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
    • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
    • Communication: Ability to communicate technical information clearly so that it may be understood by a non-technical individual
    • Ability to use direct persuasion in a discussion, such as appeals to reason, data, larger purpose
    • Strong understanding of how domain interrelates with other components within the closed and enterprise networking environment
    • Technical: Expert in primary domain
    • Ability to multi-task ins a fluid environment with shifting priorities
    • Considerable familiarity with applicable Defense Infomration Systems Agency, Intelligence Community, and coalition security requirements documents such as STIGs
    • Solid experience adapting to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources
    • Strong experience with technical writing, i.e., Standard Operating Procedures, technical proposals, etc.
    • Problem Solving: Ability to break a complex problem into manageable parts and organize approach and solution in a systematic way
    • Ability to identify impact of decision on other projects or departments
    • Adaptability: Demonstrates ability to move into new teams and quickly learn project defined specific process while applying past knowledge and experience
    • Innovation: Skilled at developing/integrating new ideas, optimizing alternatives & establishing backup plan


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:   Degree in Information Systems or Technology or a related technical field is preferred. Experience in the following products/technologies is highly desired:

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:  Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
