    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.


    Department of Defense TOP SECRET SI/TK security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Deputy Program Manager of Engineering (DPME) to lead our engineering efforts on a classified Information and Electronic Warfare (EW) program.  In this position, the DPME will be responsible for the overall technical execution, including the cost and schedule management of the technical team. The candidate would be required to support meetings and create consensus among the engineering technical team, the government team, organizational leadership and the program manager. The DPME must possess strong presentations skills and must be able to maintain the engineering team’s focus on budget, schedule, and technical execution. Good communication skills, writing skills, and teamwork skills are required.



    Additional Responsibilities include:

    • Working with a large geographically separated Electronic Warfare team of engineers and leaders in the organization
    • Works with the business capture team in the RF subsystem assessments, concept design and development approach to include proposal preparation of a shipboard EW system
    • Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    • Provides engineering support to proposals
    • Participates in or leads SOW generation for subcontracts
    • Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Plans and executes significant project tasks for activities
    • Synthesizes solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Contributes to detailed technical analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Controlling the technical baseline (reviewing and approving recommended changes to requirements and design configuration)
    • Ensuring the overall cost, schedule, and performance of the program.
    • Maintaining program plans (management baseline)
    • Conducting customer reviews and serving as an advocate for customer issues – technical and programmatic
    • Managing program resources, organizational interfaces, and program task scope
    • Applies GDMS engineering processes and practices in the execution of tasks and activities including, but not limited to, requirements analysis, design analysis, implementation, and system integration & test with minimal supervision; immediately allocating and providing leadership and/or direction to other members on the team.
    • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
    • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
    • Supports the identification, analysis and resolution of system design weaknesses
    • Ability to interact with managers and project teams within and outside of Engineering in addition to external customers will be key to their success
    • Travel will be required (between 10-25%)
    • Stays ahead of industry and technology trends

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • Must have Information / Electronic Warfare (IW/EW) experience working with tactical cryptologic systems which support assured command and control, battlespace awareness, integrated fires and electromagnetic maneuver warfare (EMW) domains
    • Strong background and knowledge of RF/EW/SIGINT and  similarly related domains
    • Experience with real-time SIGINT exploitation and geo-location across a range of target signals, and a backend subsystem that performs non-real-time mission management and analysis.
    • Must have experience advancing and incorporating new technologies through open architecture for rapid integration and development of new capabilities
    • Experience focusing new technologies towards new and previously unexplored/unexploited cyber capabilities
    • Excellent use and understanding of hardware and software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Ability to get buy-in on concepts and ideas
    • Creative thinker
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Very strong understanding of basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
    • Highly proficient ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and effectively handle complex assignments 
    • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
