    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr Advanced Proposal Lead.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Responsible for the entire proposal estimating activities for Manufacturing
    • Work with the team to capture manufacturing data and inputs to the proposal
    • Hands-on contributor to the Proposal Process and manage a support team when required
    • Understand the content and structure for all products based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers
    • Work with engineering to analyze bills of material or sample layouts, and calculate production costs using labor estimates and historical data
    • Write justifications, strategies and manufacturing plans for the proposal
    • In conjunction with the Manufacturing Technical Manager and Operations Manager this position is responsible for incorporating proposal strategies, themes/discriminators, technical/management features and benefits, and other material into the proposals
    • Participation begins during storyboarding and continues through red team or final draft
    • Responsible for meeting scheduled deadlines, conforming to the proposal outline and compliance matrix, and inclusion of themes/discriminators, illustrations, and other material as directed
    • Responsible for implementing proposal processes and formats
    • Coordinates with others as required ensuring that proposal content is satisfactorily and consistently prepared
    • Participates in color review debriefs in order to incorporate feedback into their sections of the proposal.
    • May be responsible for Transition to Production and Production Readiness Reviews upon proposal award


    • Familiar with production processes and systems.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and team building skills.
    • Must be able to make effective decisions, build consensus, and sustain team energy and commitment.
    • Some travel may be required (less than 5%). Schedule may vary driven by proposal demands.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in the support of multiple simultaneous proposals.
    • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Power Point and Project.
    • Capability to support the development of a superior value proposition and of an integrated program offer that gives customers high confidence in the delivery of this value.
