    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Usability Manager.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Provides leadership in defining strategy in usability, tool selection, and process/practice across the UX disciplines Leads, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for the standards of design and implementation, for both product/system components and communication artifacts
    • Identifies, acquires, develops, retains, and evaluates personnel to ensure optimum value, growth, and mutual benefit
    • Manages and resolves personnel issues
    • Provides senior-level guidance and vision to the development of several products/systems
    • Helps identify creative alternatives when presented with barriers to progress
    • Works to apply usability principles in the investigation of technical problems
    • Participates in initiatives that optimize tasks, resources, and deliverables across multiple projects
    • Participates in the development of technical and teaming strategies, creative vision, process improvements, and product concepts
    • Contributes as an expert to proposal development efforts
    • Participates in the development of technical and teaming strategies, creative vision, and product concepts on one or more projects/programs
    • Principal-level creative contributor
    • Requires little oversight from supervisor, demonstrates autonomy and consistent decision-making capabilities
    • Drives the team vision on multiple challenging projects/programs
    • Expertise is sought out regularly
    • Security clearance is required
    • Travel is required

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
