  • Basic Qualifications

    Associate's degree is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Certified Electrician License (State of Texas) is required.

     

    Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, applicants must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by EAR and ITAR, including U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents.  U.S. personcandidates application prcoess will be reviewed for approval from our Senior Director of Import/Export Compliance.

     

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Maintenance Technician.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility
    • Supports maintenance mechanics and facilities staff by performing a wide variety of maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup
    • Works with outside contractors on building and equipment repairs
    • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
    • Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment
    • Operates site equipment as needed, using hand and power tools as necessary
    • May perform other activities such as audio-visual (AV) set up for meetings or conferences, inter-office mail deliveries, waste paper recycling, and stocking of employee break areas
    • Utilizes computer based facilities system to track, schedule and maintain facilities work orders and information
    • May maintain documentation such as power diagrams, network diagram, space usage, uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications etc.
    • May provide support to vendors/contractors such as security force, cafeteria, media relations

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Has a solid understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks
    • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
    • May require decision-making but with limited financial implications to the company
    • Displays solid high performance attributes and influential with others and demonstrates superior communication and collaborative skills consistent with expectations for position
    • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Focus is on completing tasks or activities supporting implementation of procedures
    • Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
    • May provide direction to other employees with similar duties
    • Certified Electrician License (State of Texas) is required
