  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience preferred. Agile experience preferred.



    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Lead Signal Processing Systems Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Position requires substantial experience performing Signal Processing design, analysis and testing on Electronic Warfare (EW) systems
    • Work with the Deputy Program Manager of Engineering (DPME) when achieving program tasks, schedule, technical issues and risk management. 
    • Engineer will lead design, development, and integration efforts on United States Navy (USN) Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.
    • Responsibilities also include design, modification, and Integration & Test (I&T) of existing systems.
    • Lead the development of requirements and interface documentation
    • Work with stakeholders to identify program needs and shape the development efforts. 
    • Oversee and support system architecture design, and trade studies, and future proposal work.
    • Systems requirements analysis
    • Signal processing architecture
    • Algorithm development
    • Performance verification and validation
    • Work with the program manager on accomplishing program tasks, schedule, technical issues, and risk
    • Lead the team to meet program milestones. 
    • Lead a team of junior engineers, mentoring, growing and grooming; while meeting program expectations and milestones Support business development activities through analysis of customer and market requirements, making recommendations on new capabilities in support of market and customer needs
    • Conduct systems design development efforts to include requi9rements fulfillment, functions and features definition, rack and stack concepts, specification adherence and meeting the design objectives of the program
    • Assess hardware systems design with respect to compliance to MIL standards and specifications. 
    • Work closely with subcontractors and teammates
    • Follow GDMS processes
    • Good written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to recognize and clearly report relevant information
    • Some travel will be required in this position

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Participate in a team environment to design, develop, enhance, and execute EW solutions, including providing full life cycle support (requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and training).
    • Deliver presentations to peers and customers internal and external to General Dynamics Mission Systems


    Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science


    Secret clearance required at time of hire



    • Substantial experience performing signal processing engineering for a US DoD program
    • 15-20 years of hardware or software engineering experience
    • Preferred:
      • 10+ years of signal processing experience working US Navy programs
      • 5+ years of experience working a large DoD component contract with multiple subcontractors
      • 1+ years of successful Team Leadership experience
