    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS has an immediate opening for an experienced Advanced System Administrator/ Networking Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to support and enhance cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to ensure GDMS and client technologies are functioning as efficiently as possible.     This position serves as the front line interface to members of a 24x7 E1 operations team. Some shift-work may be required.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Supports/Administers/Configures a network environment such as servers, routers, switches, circuits, firewalls, wireless, intrusion prevention devices, etc
    • Able to implement/support/monitor/troubleshoot/rectify network issues on a physical and/ or virtual network a they arise
    • Possesses an understanding on how to manage group policies, local security policies, and government standards for: Creating, modifying, and removing user accounts
    • Manages the functionalities and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating system
    • Reports status and discrepancies in system performance in a clear, concise and complete manner 
    • Analyzes, interprets and refines requests to assure understanding of assignment(s)
    • Collaborates with the E2 team when additional information is needed to perform root cause analysis
    • Supports the E2 team with the validation and verification of new software builds during installs, assists with troubleshooting and documenting on the spot fixes to remedy issues post install
    • Using a solution-oriented approach, suggest and champion system enhancements and/or workarounds to the factory baseline to improve system reliability and performance
    • Demonstrates willingness and ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
    • Performs daily system monitoring to maintain a high state of readiness
    • Write and/or review system Operational Procedures and system documentation

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Self-starter, able to work under limited direction
    • Able to analyze and apply problem solving skills to identify, resolve, or escalate a diverse range of system impacting issues
    • Understands how domains interrelate with other components within a closed and enterprise networking environment
    • Understanding of routing and switching
    • Advanced experience with troubleshooting cross domain solutions
    • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance providing excellent customer service at all times, to include maintaining a good work ethic and assisting other team members as needed
    • Understanding of configuration management practices
    • Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
    • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team
    • Practices creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences
    • Demonstrated the ability to work effectively with a range of individuals including non-technical and technical members of the E1 and E2 teams
    • Able to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performing team

    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPE AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 years of hands on experience with on one or more of the following Linux, UNIX, Oracle, EMC, F5, or Cisco, FPGA Cards
    • Certifications (Vendor Training, CCNA, Security+, Network+, or A+) - with hands on technical system expertise
    • Red Hat Linux
    • Splunk
    • SQL
    • CISCO
    • Symmetricom
    • Trunking and VLANs
    • System debugging and backup
    • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of satellite communications
