    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS has an immediate opening for a Mission Planner to join our Operations team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge equipment and systems that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance GDMS technologies.     The Mission Planner position is a 27x7 operator position that performs help desk type duties and monitors services scheduled by users within an automated planning and scheduling system.  This position serves as the first line of support to our system users.   

     

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Serve as the frontline of support to system users when issues occur with requested service
    • Perform planning, scheduling, and reporting of services with the goal of providing prompt customer service to system users
    • Monitor system performance to be able to respond to event notifications and determine courses of action
    • Monitor status of initiated services; reschedule services as necessary for interrupted services; and assisting with service setup and execution
    • Support overall operational crew activities for larger system
    • Support system testing after upgrades and during maintenance activities
    • Coordinating with other crew members to maintain system state of health
    • Report discrepancies concisely as they occur
    • Investigate and rectify procedural discrepancies
    • Identify areas of process improvements to increase operational readiness
    • Coordinate with subsystem engineering subject matter experts to implement configuration changes and other maintenance activities on the network in accordance with operational procedures 
    • Providing daily system reports to customers
    • Able to do shift work

     

     KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Self-motivated with the ability and desire to learn complex systems with little direction
    • Creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Supporting and engaging in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
    • Following industry and department policies and regulations to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
    • Serve as a mentor to peers
    • Routine interaction with multiple customers
    • Solid written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPE AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Oracle Database experience
    • SQL experience
    • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of satellite communications
    • Understanding on Radio Frequency spectrums and how they can be utilized, acquired, and corrected
    • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Department of Defense TS/SCI with CI polygraph required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
