    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. 

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Quality Lead in Quincy, MA.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Designs, implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
    • Oversees the methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products 
    • Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
    • Provides review of contracts, SOWs, supplier documents, internal documents, drawings, assembly instructions, and project plans
    • Participates in peer reviews for quality requirements and considerations
    • Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, verifies implementation of rework
    • Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
    • Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
    • Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews, material review boards, change control boards, failure review boards
    • Participates in continuous improvement and problem solving activities within the project
    • Manages, supervises and/or directs tasks of lower level QA personnel
    • Reviews contracts, SOW, and other documents for pertinent information
    • Witnesses and/or monitors test activities
    • Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects
    • Interfaces with various engineering disciplines, manufacturing, program management, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, and other quality personnel
    • Frequent contact with senior managers within and outside of Engineering
    • Frequent contact with project teams across the company
    • Works performed without appreciable direction 
    • Takes a lead role in quality assurance engineering for one project or several small projects 
    • Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems which require the use of ingenuity and creativity
    • Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve organization objectives
    • Travel may be required 
    • Security clearance may be required 


    • Strong use and understanding of domain (hardware, software, systems, logistics, manufacturing) methodologies, tools, and standards 
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, CMMI, ISO 14001ASME, ANSI, EIA, etc. 
    • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to think creatively
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Highly skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Strong ability to clearly report information relevant to sound quality engineering processes
    • Strong skill in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong knowledge of use of relevant inspection/measurement tools and techniques 
    • Strong computer skills, both desktop software and required factory or engineering tools
    • Strong knowledge of contract language
