  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense secret security clearance obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Electrical Engineer-Shipboard Electronic Repair Facility to join our Manufacturing team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services.  The Shipboard Electronics Repair Facility (SERF) is a state of the art, technologically advanced, process oriented, repair center of excellence that specializes in advanced electrical/electronic and mechanical repairs for the US Navy. SERF performs repair work on various commodity groups for custom military designs and commercial off the shelf designs.  This hardware includes, but not limited to, Advanced Electronic Circuit Cards, Analog and Digital Power Supplies, Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs), Network Switches, Servers, Computers, Fiber Optic Equipment, Memory Storage Equipment, Cables and Harnesses, Hydraulic Lifting Equipment, and Tool & Fixturing Devices.

    Key Responsibilities
    The Electrical Engineer-Shipboard Electronic Repair Facility candidate will develop, implement and maintain the methods, operation sequences and processes used in General Dynamics Mission Systems repair. The individual is responsible for testing and troubleshooting manufactured and purchased electronic equipment and systems. This involves the repair of sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The employee is also responsible for recommending the tools and processes that accompany the repair process. Additionally, the selected candidate will provide guidance to fellow engineers, helping them to enhance organizational design concepts and manufacturing techniques.

    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

    The Electrical Engineer-Shipboard Electronic Repair Facility position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or in a related specialized area or the equivalent and two years of related experience, or a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related specialized area or the equivalent with zero years of related experience.

     

    Basic Electrical Engineering disciplines to include:
    Electronics (electronic devices and electrical circuits for producing, detecting, and controlling electrical signals)
    Digital Systems (digital-based communication and control systems) 
    Electric Power (generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power)


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering

    • Experience with complex analog and digital circuits and be familiar with fault coverage analysis, test procedures, and test plans
    • Experience with Automated Test Equipment
    • Responsibility for implementing and improving General Dynamics Mission Systems test processes
    • Ability to gather and analyze data to support efforts to reduce cost, improve efficiencies and improve operator performance
    • Experience with electrical testing/troubleshooting of complex assemblies
