  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS has an immediate opening for an experienced Systems Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    - Participates in requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
    - Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    - Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    - Develops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
    - May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
    - May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
    - Plans sub tasks for activities described above
    - Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
    - Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
    - Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
    - Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
    - Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
    - Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
    - Contact with multiple work groups
    - Works under general supervision
    - Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department
    - May have some contact outside Engineering or with external customers
    - Travel may be required
    - Security clearance may be required
    - Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope
    - Keeps abreast of technology trend

    - Familiarity with technical standards
    - Very solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    - Very solid awareness of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
    - Very solid knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
    - Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments
    - Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
    - Very solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    - Very solid written and verbal communications skills
    - Creative thinker
    - Ability to multi-task
    - Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
    - Very solid skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    - Ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design



    Degree in Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred. Experience in the following products/technologies is highly desired:

    • Linux
    • Citrix
    • Oracle
    • SQL
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise
    • ClearCase (configuration management)
    • Git (configuration management)
    • Web services


    Highly desired certifications include:

    • Security+
    • Network+



    Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire.  Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
