    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS has an immediate opening for a Senior Strategic Material Estimator to join our supply chain management team in Quincy, Massachusetts.   


    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: The Senior Strategic Material Estimator is the strategic liaison in estimating the Bill of Material (BOM).  In this critical role, the Senior Strategic Material Estimator:


    • Must be familiar with BOM generation
    • Attends the proposal planning meeting and kick-offs and collaborates with functional areas to understand BOM requirements
    • Supports proposal activities with innovative solutions to meet Program needs and requirements
    • Identifies potential sources for required materials, and services and develops and issues request for proposals. Identifies new suppliers as required
    • Participates on proposal evaluation teams in fact finding, technical evaluation, and cost/price analysis
    • Receives, reviews, and evaluates supplier proposals to ensure they meet Prime proposal requirements
    • Prepares and documents priced Bill of Material and Material (BOM) cost estimate development
    • Reviews requirements document (i.e., requisitions, statement of work, drawings, and specifications) for clarity and adequacy
    • May recommend cost saving proposals or alternative sources
    • Interacts with suppliers and Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues
    • Participates in Commodity Team activities
    • Responds to supplier inquiries and coordinates source selection decisions
    • Works with senior supply chain staff to address the more complicated procurement related issues
    • Works on a diverse range of problems and internal projects of mid-to moderate complexity
    • Works under increasingly limited direction

    • Basic Supply Management understanding
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
    • Knowledge of estimating principles



    Experience in the Government, Defense or Aerospace industry is preferred.
