    Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Material Planning Specialist to join us in our Marion, VA location.   The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

     

    • Represents the material planning function on various program teams
    • Monitors monthly production schedules against the material requirements
    • Creates complex material structures in the material planning tool
    • May coordinate the development of material proposals
    • Identifies process flow improvements and implement
    • Interfaces regularly with supply chain, stockroom, and engineering personnel
    • Prepares material forecasts as requested 
    • Inventory Control
    • Coordinates Shortages


    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

     

    • Very solid understanding of the material planning tools
    • Ability to manipulate data in the material planning tools
    • Very solid understanding of bill of material concepts and methodologies
    • Very solid understanding of the proposal process for material estimating
    • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office tools, Oracle or IFS experience a plus
    • Grasps and applies new information quickly 
    • Ability to handle complex assignments
    • Ability to effectively represent functional area on program teams
