  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking an individual systems Project Lead Engineer / Manager who will technically and managerially contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management (CPM) Next contracts. You will be a part of the development of next generation military C2 training environments using Modeling and Simulation. In this role as a Project Lead Engineer, you will:

    • Lead development of major strategic projects or groups of projects by applying engineering knowledge and expertise to achieve tech goals
    • Plan and execute a single large-sized project or multiple moderate-sized projects
    • Be responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
    • Lead a group of engineers and technicians as assigned by the projects
    • Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility
    • Be an advocate and facilitator of continuous process improvement and infrastructure change
    • Supervise and manage lower level employees
    • Lead regular communication with project customer, supplier(s), project team, and internal management
    • Deal regularly with support functions outside of project assignment
    • Serve as consultant to senior management and customers on long-range company planning
    • Perform and lead activities in Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) domain to include Interoperability requirements, designs and implementations, as required to support the LT2 Product Line
    • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
    • Leads medium to large proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcoming
    • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects
