  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Embedded Software Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    Key Responsibilities


    Advanced Embedded Software Engineers conduct or participate in the design development, and integration development of systems software, software applications and/or tools for new programs and subprograms.

     

    Responsibilities may include the following:

    • Participate in the full software life-cycle development using object oriented methodologies
    • Working knowledge in Linux (CentOS)
    • Implement and test software in C++
    • Investigate and solve state of the art complex problems
    • Integrate and test software and systems
    • Working knowledge with unit test frameworks

    • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
    • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems' services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices   
    • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
    • Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.

    Experience/Knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

    • Rational Team Concert for source control and tasks management
    • Build environment in Jenkins
    • Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
    • Proficient in the use of debugging tools
    • Experience with GNU/Make
    • Demonstrated experience working on an Agile development team
    • Experience with Liverpool Data Research Associates (LDRA) code coverage and code analysis tools
    • Knowledgeable of the software development process

    Candidate must also have experience with the following:

    • C++
    • UML/SYSML
    • Working knowledge of MDD in Rhapsody
    • Eclipse IDE
