  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management or Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 12 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Logistics Tools Professional.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    Assists in project/program tasks related to specific ILS elements
    Provides ILS input to project/program plans and deliverables
    Defines, reviews and analyzes system requirements for enhancements/modifications for supportability

    Understands SSP Advanced Inventory Logistics (SAIL) tool and how the Logistics team employs it

    Defines SAIL requirements for GDMS Logistics team

    Logistics representative to the Development and Deployment Team (DDT)

    Responsible for SAIL data integrity

    Primary interface between GDMS Logistics and the SAIL development team

    Trains Logistics team on SAIL functionality

    Responds to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from NAVSUP. Tracks completion of awarded NAVSUP contracts

    Supports internal audits and/reviews for corrective action plans
    Supports other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements
    Assists in the development of project/program plans and deliverables
    Performs duties and responsibilities as member or functional expert on process improvement teams and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
    Assists in the development of supplier requirements and Statements of Work
    Independently create major sections of ILS deliverables
    Reports to an ILS Manager
    Individual contributor
    ILS Generalist - intermediate level professional
    Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life
    May be required to travel

    Considerable knowledge of Acquisition Logistics (a multi-functional technical management discipline associated with influencing design for supportability and planning the support infrastructure for a system by focusing on the integrated logistics support (ILS) elements and working with and across all IPTs)
    Considerable knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Elements (supply support; maintenance planning; manpower and personnel; technical manuals; training and training equipment; support equipment; facilities; computer resources support; packaging, handling, storage and transportation (PHS&T); design interface; reliability, maintainability and availability (RM&A), how they interact and how they are applied across a program, their effect on a system, plus how a systems' design and changes affect the ILS elements
    Considerable experience in one or more of the ILS elements
    Considerable knowledge of military/commercial requirements/ specifications
    Considerable knowledge of internal/external procedures and policies
    Conflict management skills
    Considerable knowledge of the acquisition logistics process
    Ability to coordinate with other disciplines for program/project resolutions/enhancements
    Considerable knowledge of various ILS software applications
    Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
    Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
