  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's of Science or Technology degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. 



    • Strong communications background (written, spoken)
    • Expertise in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security requirements and network communications
    • Strong hands-on network security and COMSEC experience.
    • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Viso
    • Expertise with network monitoring and reporting tools and technology
    • Considered to be an expert, authority in discipline
    • Familiarity with applicable DISA, IC, and coalition security requirements documents such as STIGS
    • Expertise with CISCO Routers, Switches,  WAN Protocols (EIGRP), QOS,  LAN and Data Center Protocols (Spanning -Tree, Fabric-enabled technologies, VoIP to support Data, Voice and Video)
    • Expertise in Tier III support
    • Experience with VTC systems to include Cisco.
    • Extensive experience with Voice Over IP (VoIP)
    • Familiarity with DMVPM
    • Familiarity with general Unix OS functionality
    • Hands-on configuration experience with KG-175’s
    • Experience adapting to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources
    • Experience working helpdesk functions
    • Experience with technical writing IE: SOPs, technical proposals, etc
    • Experience with Network monitoring, preferably Solarwinds

    Applicants must meet DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-II or higher



    This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance. Must be willing and able to obtain a polygraph within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Network Security Engineering Manager.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Responsible for all aspects of Network Security, COMSEC and all related communications devices and or services as assigned
    • Responsible for the Security, Operation and Maintenance of multiple classified infrastructures, including Cryptographic devices, Routers, Switches, VOIP, Video Teleconferencing, an all other related network security configurations are required by the contracts or Engineering Management
    • Manage of team of Network Engineering professionals. (task assignments, schedules, training, mentorship, expectations)
    • Provide technical network security engineering solutions in various forms (engineering documentation) at any required audience level (proposals, customer solutions, accreditations, potential customer briefings, national level briefings/solutions etc.)
    • Troubleshoot, develop and design network architectures consisting of multilevel cross domain solutions supporting CONUS and OCONUS sites
    • Monitor key system metrics to identify and analyze networking trends to determine underlying faults
    • Develop, maintain, and analyze various Trusted Network architecture designs
    • Implement US government COMSEC standards and practices
    • Resolve interoperability problems across routers, switches, COMSEC devices between local and remote sites
    • Train and mentor network engineering staff member in becoming fully functional technical network security engineers capable of providing independent technical work products
    • Responsible for understanding unclassified GDMS data and voice networks that directly affect the campus and customer operations
    • Responsible for managing red/black separation and related TEMPEST policies as required
    • Develop and conduct network security briefings to a wide variety of personnel, (customers, senior management etc.) as required
    • Manage all external communication networks for the San Antonio campus
    • Travel to support business needs


    • Primary interfaces are Government Program Manager, Operational Team Leads, internal customers, external customers, suppliers
    • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all team members and across all teams
