  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.




    • Excellent use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Excellent understanding of cyber security specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), DIACAP, STIGs and other government security specifications and guidelines
    • Excellent knowledge of cyber security technology and trends
    • Contributes to the achievement of business objectives
    • Recognizes and incorporates various security designs and lessons learned
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions as they affect the cyber design and implementation
    • Excellent ability in reporting relevant cyber systems engineering design
    • Regular contact with senior levels of security work groups internally and externally
    • Ability to lead security work groups
    • Frequent contact with project leaders, the customer program leadership, and professionals within the
    • Engineering department and with project teams
    • Frequent contact with the external customers' security professionals
    • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI,
    • Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
    • Creative thinker, good multi-tasker


    Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI security clearance is active at time of hire.Candidates must be able obtain Polygraph. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.



    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Cybersecurity/Information Assurance Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.




    • Leads and Performs security requirements analysis, security requirements definition, system security design, security architecture generation, security trade studies, and security verification and validation with little or no supervision
    • Leads and Performs security planning, cost and risk analyses for the program security activities
    • Leads and Performs customer security requirements analysis, develops system security requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
    • Leads or Develops detailed security analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Synthesizes security solutions within the context of the system to meet customer expectations while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Recognizes various security architectural patterns, applies them appropriately, understands strengths/weaknesses within those security architectures, is able to perform/lead system-level security architecture effort
    • Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine security of design
    • Effectively chooses the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of the security engineering products
    • Leads and Develops the program required security documentation, including items such as security plans, contingency plans, and security tests plans and procedures in compliance with the IA policy
    • Leads and Performs Assessment and Authorization (A&A) (or Certification and Accreditation (C&A) activities and the generation of the documentation for the program
    • Leads and executes the security testing and evaluation to ensure the correct implementation of security requirements
    • Assesses and mitigates system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle
    • Supervise or manage lower level employees
    • Leads technical security tasks for large and medium teams or projects
    • Leads security proposals and contributes the security portions of large and medium sized proposals
    • Leads the generation of small subcontract Statement of Works (SOWs)
    • Mentors less experienced engineers internal and external to the department on IA/cyber principles, practices, and processes
