Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Application Virtualization software specialst to support our virtual desktop environment. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
•Responsible for packaging, customizing, testing and deploying virtualization software packages to VDI systems.
Follow established packaging processes.
Thoroughly document all work and steps for packaging an application.
•Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems related to virtualization software.
•Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues with the virtualized packages
•Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases related to software virtualization
•Interacts with third-party technology vendors.
•Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers
Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools
Performs, maintains, troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on Servers
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in software virtualization, plus working knowledge of other related fields
Knowledge of group policy, active directory, and Microsoft registry
•Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems
•Uses judgment within defined policies and practices

•Determines and develops approach to solutions
•Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met
•Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives
•Requires a solid understanding of Servers based operating systems
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences
•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff
•Ability to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performance team
•Analytical and problem solving skills
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years experience packaging applications and application updates.
Experience with Microsoft App-V
Basic PowerShell or VB scripting experience
