Associate’s degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Weapons Security Advanced Engineering Technician. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The Nuclear Weapons Security Advanced Engineering Technician will perform maintenance and/or vulnerability assessment activities which will have an impact upon the design and support of advanced electronic security systems. This position requires technical knowledge and disciplines such as physical security, sensor technology, authoring procedures, generating reports, and other technical activities. Additionally, these individuals assist customers with the operation and maintenance of GDMS systems. Team members also provide technical expertise to users and company personnel both domestically and internationally.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Perform vulnerability assessments in various weather conditions and terrains and different times of day to include some nights and weekends.
Requires crawling, walking, running and climbing various structures/ladders up to and including 100 ft.
Layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification or electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems
Tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems
Prepares prescribed compounds and solutions
Implements basic practical solutions for process improvement
Conducts and documents experiments under guidance of senior technician
Constructs basis tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
Organizes data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommends resolution/process improvement
Perform routine/basic preventative maintenance tasks
Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
Prepares and maintains PRP records
Provides assistance of PRP related audits
Conducts required PRP training for PRP staff
Security Clearance required at time of hire
Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format
May require Solder Repair Certification
Provide escort services to various contractors as required Works under general supervision
