  • Basic Qualifications

    Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.  Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.  


    Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position


    Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission.     Key Responsibilities

    The selected candidate, as member of the Nuclear Weapon Security support team, will provide technical support in the areas of design, installation and operational support for SP32 products. The selected candidate will apply GDMS and customer processes and practices in the execution of tasks and activities including, but not limited to, design reviews, installation planning, installation execution and problem resolution.


    The selected candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills and support frequent communications within and across Integrated Product Teams. The selected candidate will team with multiple internal stakeholders and foster team collaboration. The selected candidate may also have the opportunity to attend and support meetings and reviews with external program team members including Government Customers and other Contractors.


    The Field Engineering Intern activities will provide the foundation for a solid background and knowledge of Field Engineering tasks and formal development processes associated with engineering.


    Additional Responsibilities

    • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our engineering efforts

    • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS' services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
