  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 6 years documented and demonstrated experience in a Quality Assurance role within a software development project

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.  The Quality Assurance Engineer will have the opportunity to grow skills in the QA domain, working alongside talented software developers to produce high quality, reliabe solutions for the customer.  The Quality Assurance Engineer will work with industry standard and new technologies to complete assigned tasks, such as Selenium Web Driver, Cucumber Behavior Driven Development, and Confluence.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Leading a team of QA Engineers
    • Creating software test and automating test cases, performing application testing, validating bugs, and isolating issues
    • Writing and initiating tests and then analyzing and reporting the test results in the ticketing system; and performing configuration management, change management, and release management
    • Write summary reports that help executive managers determine how to proceed in completing the project
    • Designs, implements, and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
    • Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products
    • Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary
    • Provides technical review of documents, drawings, assembly instructions, and project plans
    • Compares defects against standards and recommends dispositions, verifies implementation of rework
    • Collects, organizes and analyzes project data, generates and/or reviews metrics
    • Performs audits, assigns corrective action, and verifies implementation
    • Participates in project reviews and meetings including technical design reviews, technical peer reviews, material review boards, change control boards, failure review boards
    • Participates in continuous improvement and problem solving activities within the project
    • Reviews documents/Drawings/Instructions for conformance to requirements
    • Witnesses and/or monitors test activities
    • Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects
    • Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
    • Works under limited direction
    • Contact with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering and Operations departments, and with project teams across the company
    • Frequent contact with external customers
    • Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
    • Works as an individual technical contributor on one or more projects
    • Recognized as an authority in a specific domain of expertise (e.g. hardware or software engineering)
    • Participates as an active member of the project team
    • Independently determines approach to solutions
