  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology/related discipline is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.



    • UNIX/LINUX experience
    • Extensive Oracle DBA experience, especially 12c
    • Experience with Oracle Label Security
    • Thorough understanding of industry standard security practices for hardening enterprise level, web-enabled server operations
    • Familiarity developing web applications using PL/SQL and PHP
    • Ability to write and maintain high quality documentation
    • Help desk experience required
    • Applicant must travel to support business needs
    • Applicants must meet and maintain DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-II or higher


    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply good interpersonal skills, and perform effectively under time pressure


    This position requires a minimum of a TS/SCI clearance at time of hire. Must be willing and able to obtain a polygraph within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Oracle Database Administrator in our San Antonio, TX location.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Design and build web and database servers from the ground up, including hardware selection, O/S installation, and installation/configuration of Oracle RDBMS software
    • Provide day-to-day operation and maintenance of multiple mission-critical Trusted Web Servers and 12c Oracle Databases
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and patch database and web servers
    • Analyze and determine customers’ data management needs, storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities
    • Define logical attributes and interrelationships and designs data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility
    • Execute tasks such as backup, recovery, testing and auditing to ensure the integrity of the system’s data
    • Monitor key metrics in the systems to identify trends and analyze for problems
    • Develop policies, procedures and standards
    • Assist application developers with database aspects of development (database object creation, SQL tuning, etc.)
    • Roll-out new application code / builds in various production Oracle 12c environments
    • Participate in teams that study data problems, execute trade studies, and resolve identified problem(s)
    • May be scheduled for after-hours support and may be required to apply production packages or perform maintenance operations during non-peak hours
    • Open & follow-up on service support tickets with Oracle support
    • Build and troubleshoot user accounts issues
